Do Lab lights and art installment, Coachella. Indio, California. I’m not really a techno girl but there were people dressed like poorly crafted DIY unicorns and stuff. I’m not saying I don’tlikepeople dressed like unicorns… only, crafting with a glue gun, glitter and feathers is an art - and some people are not artists. Just sayin’.

One of the art installments at Coachella. Indio, California. This was lying on the grass and just watching the sun filter through. Pretty!

LACMA - Rene Magritte’s, “Ceci n’est pas une pipe” (“this is not a pipe”). Magritte’s surrealist art is some of my favorite work by any artist. He seamlessly blends abstract concepts with soft color palettes and wonderful technique to create gently thought-provoking works. Also, this has long been one of my favorite images ever, so seeing it in real life was in itself a surreal moment. Like, randomly walking into an ideal made manifest. Strange, but thrilling.

LACMA - streetlight sculpture. There was some sort of event happening today so much of the museum was closed. Still, got some great pictures. It’s really amazing that, as an L.A. born and bred girl, I’d never actually been to the museum. There’s Kandinsky’s and Diego Rivera’s, Rothko’s and some truly fine examples of Art Deco and Nouveau furniture. The Walt Disney Gallery smelled deliciously like cedar and had all these marvelous stepped display cases. A wonderful place.
