The acres and acres of land on the property include a fabulous golf course, a full on stud farm, well-stocked fishing ponds and enough soft, rolling green hills to nourish a city-bred soul for a decade. I rode through moss-covered woods that looked straight out of a tapestry, fully expecting to see a unicorn at any point. Some day, I’ll get them all on here but I still haven’t even gotten a significant portion off of my camera. It must be the jet-lag and coming home to hot, hot heat and then gloom and gray. My professor seemed surprised that I’d thought Dublin beautiful. I wondered how anyone could not. Every block seemed to be a surprise of tacky shops tucked into these incredible, elegantly detailed buildings. Some things were a little run down, of course. Crumbling plaster and pitted columns vied with creeping vines and moss. Yet, there was something old and organic to the atmosphere, as though the harmonious balance of culture and nature is rooted so deeply that people have simply forgotten - or maybe, never even noticed - that such a sweet mesh of place and people is unique and wonderful. I adored it. I loved it the way I love Los Angeles. Like the air itself is prozac and every breath settles my soul into contentment.
